Rummenigge advises Nagelsmann to be humble: “Too demanding and extroverted”

Rummenigge advises Nagelsmann to be humble: “Too demanding and extroverted”

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge discusses the national team's World Cup goals. He is rather critical of a certain approach taken by national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"Germany has always been particularly successful when they didn't necessarily declare themselves the favorites, but rather entered the tournament with a touch of humility," Rummenigge said in an interview with "Welt am Sonntag": "Perhaps it would be wise to remember that."

The 69-year-old Rummenigge , who himself played 95 international matches in his career and was defeated by Argentina in the 1986 World Cup final with the German national team, advised Nagelsmann: "Julian Nagelsmann's job is to develop the team further."

The national coach brings a lot of energy and conviction to his role, which is generally positive, Rummenigge said. "Sometimes, however, his demeanor seems almost a little too demanding and extroverted," he said. "I think it can be helpful to exercise a little more restraint."
